3MT: Three Minute Thesis
Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) celebrates the exciting research conducted by PhD students. Developed by The University of Queensland, the exercise cultivates students' academic, presentation, and research communication skills. The competition supports their capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience.
The winner of the BEL Faculty competition will go on to compete in the UQ 3MT® Final (subject to eligibility) and may proceed to compete in the 2016 Asia-Pacific 3MT® competition. The winners have a chance to win up to $16,000 in prizes.
Prior to the UQ Final, the UQ Graduate School will coordinate a UQ 3MT® Wildcard Final to select an additional finalist, with contestants being the People’s Choice winner from each of the Faculty/Institute Finals. If the Faculty winner is also the People’s Choice winner, the Runner-up will proceed to the Wildcard Final. The Wildcard winner will be offered the opportunity to compete in the UQ 3MT® Final.
