Our goal is to be a leader in Business, Economics and Law that creates positive change. As a faculty we do this in numerous ways across our schools.

Teaching

We provide a transformative learning experience that inspires students to create change locally and globally. The knowledge and guidance given by our academics, tutors and support staff help students to build confidence in their abilities and develop both personally and professionally. Our programs are influenced by the latest research, technological and industry advances ensuring students are equipped for the challenges of today and tomorrow. Our teaching goes beyond facts, we teach students how to think.

Research

The opportunity to use knowledge to create change is a driving force behind our research. Our research in business, economics and law is helping to solve issues that face industry, policy makers, community organisations and people worldwide. Our aim is to continue to grow our collaborative research, with a strong emphasis on transforming research outcomes into practical solutions and create change around the globe.

Industry engagement

We value our strong connections with industry and work with organisations to collaborate on research, enhance our teaching and provide practical experiences for our students. We provide useful information on the latest research being undertaken, lead important conversations on issues that affect industry and be part of the solution. Our goal is to work with industry in developing the next generation of leaders.

Alumni network

UQ’s Faculty of Business, Economics and Law’s 90,000-strong alumni around the globe are an important part of the UQ community. We are proud of the achievements of our alumni and their support of our students through bursaries, awards and gifts that allow us to extend our programs, attract quality staff and allow our students to engage more with the community. We provide a range of events and opportunities for alumni to connect with UQ and each other. Our goal is to continue to build an active community that welcomes students, fosters business connections, and encourages lifelong learning.

Community outreach

Contributing to positive change is an ethos that is incorporated in everything we do. Our researchers' work with community organisations helps them reach their goals and plan for a successful future. The UQ Pro Bono centre provides vital legal services to people who may not have access to them otherwise. We teach our students the value of giving back by incorporating opportunities to work with community organisations into our programs. We continue to increase our engagement with community organisations and seek out new ways to work collaboratively.

Advancement and philanthropy

The philanthropic support of the faculty helps us to achieve our mission of creating positive change. Whether giving a financial gift, scholarship, your time or expertise - investment from the community is vital. It helps us support our students through scholarships, provide state of the art facilities, and undertake ground-breaking research. In the future we will continue to expand our collaborative research, upgrade ageing facilities, and develop new facilities that allow for easier collaboration and industry engagement.
