Business and economics undergraduate welcome

We’re excited to introduce you to UQ, the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law (BEL) and university life at your welcome event!

You’ll find out what to expect in your program, have your questions answered, and meet your professors and future classmates. You’ll also team up with a BEL Buddy, a current student in your program, who will guide you during the day and share their tips for making the most of your experience at uni.

Enjoy exploring the beautiful St Lucia campus with your new mates and come along to BELfest – a festival to celebrate the beginning of your studies! You won’t want to miss the huge range of awesome stalls including UQ Sport and support services, stacks of food stalls, competitions, giveaways and games!

It’s official – you’re a BEL student! We’ll show you what life in BEL is all about and how to make the most of your time here.

9.45 - 10.30am

Get to know your program 

You made a great choice, now it’s time to find out some of the awesome things you’ll be doing in your program! Meet your program leaders, lecturers and current students who will talk you through what to expect in your first few weeks at university.

If you’re a dual program student, simply choose one session to attend. 

Take it easy. You don’t need to worry about getting around, your incredible BEL Buddy will take you to where you need to go.

10.30 - 11.15am

International support session

Are you an international student studying Business Management, Commerce or International Hotel and Tourism Management? Hang back in the room to meet your international student advisors and have all your questions answered about program requirements, transfer credit and more. We recommend bringing your laptop or tablet with you.

And don’t worry, you will still have plenty of time to spend at BELfest after the session.

If you are a domestic student, head straight to BELfest.

11am - 2pm

Bring on BELfest! | UQ Centre (building 27A)

The real fun begins at our BEL festival (BELfest) – your exclusive free first-year welcome event! At BELfest, you’ll find stacks of exciting stalls, free food, live entertainment, competitions and more.

This is where you can find out about a range of student clubs and societies, support services and events so you can take advantage of all the UQ professional and personal perks. Chat with reps from our award-winning Student Employability Team, overseas study team and other students and staff.

You’ll also have the opportunity to win big with plenty of prizes and giveaways to be won.

International support session

Chamberlain (building 35, room 202)

If you’re studying the Bachelor of Economics, come along to this session to meet your advisor and get help with your enrolment. You’ll receive practical assistance with understanding the program rules and requirements, credit transfers, program planning and more.

Chamberlain (building 35, room 203)

If you’re a new undergrad international student and require additional support or missed your program session on Wednesday, join this session for help with your enrolment and program planning.
