HR resources for staff

Welcome to the Human Resources section of the BEL Faculty website. The Human Resources team plays an important role in coordinating many of the people functions within the faculty, including recruitment and selection, staff engagement, training and development and staff retention. The HR team is based within the Faculty office but works closely with Human Resources Division in Central Administration. HR has a collaborative working relationship with the School’s HR personnel and provides high level advice to senior management. In addition to this, Faculty HR is also a contact point for all staff within the faculty office and our schools.

This HR website endeavours to provide timely and accurate information on policy and procedural matters, leave and recruitment, induction, immigration and travel as well as answers to many frequently asked questions for both school HR personnel and Faculty of BEL staff. Payroll

The University operates on a fortnightly pay cycle. Payments are administered via bank deposit to your nominated bank account on a Wednesday, however, depending on the processing times of your institution, your salary may not arrive in your account until Thursday. Your nominated bank account can be changed at any time via the MyAurion website. 

What is MyAurion? MyAurion is the University's Human Resource Management System which allows you to view and modify your own human resource-related data over the Internet. Information you can view/update via MyAurion includes personal details, leave, fortnightly payslips, banking details/deductions, training and qualifications. Staff Development and Training

The BEL Faculty is highly committed to investing in staff development initiatives and other training opportunities for our staff. In addition to the University Staff Development Program courses, we pride ourselves on offering our staff the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of external training and development sessions.

Wellbeing

At the University of Queensland we encourage, support and promote the good health and wellbeing of staff. We want to help you feel valued, respected and empowered, which is why we've developed a variety of initiatives to assist keep you healthy in body and mind. To aid in the delivery of some of our wellness initiatives, the University has implemented an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and engaged Davidson Trahaire Corpsych to provide a confidential and voluntary counselling service for UQ employees and their immediate families.

Special Studies Leave

Sabbatical leave is provided to eligible academic staff to enable them to pursue scholarship and thereby enhance their contribution to their School/Centre/Institute, Faculty and the University. Such leave, called Special Studies Program (SSP) at the University of Queensland, is highly valued by the University and its academic staff. Please refer to the policy to find out more.

Conflict of interest

It is mandatory for all continuing and fixed-term staff to submit a conflict of interest declaration form, irrespective of whether any conflict exists due to:

Your circumstances have changed since last submitting a COI disclosure form;
You have not submitted a COI disclosure form since commencing with the University/Faculty.
