Recruitment ready accordian

Eligibility criteria

Recruitment Ready is open to domestic and international BEL students, at both undergraduate and postgraduate coursework levels.

To be eligible to apply, students must:

  • Be currently enrolled in a UQ BEL (single or dual) degree program, and

  • If in an undergraduate program, not be in their first semester.

There are no minimum GPA requirements to apply to Recruitment Ready. The program is best suited for mid-degree students and should be completed before applying for work experience or employment opportunities.

Program tasks and timelines

The Recruitment Ready program runs from Week 4 through Week 10 of the semester. Tasks will be released in stages and students can complete them in their own time but must meet set deadlines. As in a real-life recruitment process, if students miss a deadline or do not complete a task, they will be withdrawn from the program.

The tasks are varied, and students will be assessed on their performance. Feedback will be provided on both an individual basis and through a group debrief session, maximising students’ opportunity to learn from their program experience and apply those learnings to real-world application processes.

Students will complete the following tasks and activities in the Recruitment Ready program:

  • Write a tailored cover letter and improve their resume through VMock, an advanced AI smart resume checker, as part of the application

  • Attend the program welcome session

  • Learn what psychometric testing is and how it is used by employers

  • Attend an interviewing workshop to learn how to prepare and best present oneself to a potential employer

  • Complete a virtual internship (via Forage) and communicate the value of this experience

  • Respond to questions in a recorded video interview.

Following completion of these activities, students will receive feedback to maximise their program learning, as per the approximate schedule below. (Note that the mid-semester break may vary across semesters.)

Students who complete all program tasks will be invited to attend an exclusive professional development and networking event with our industry partner, Suncorp.
