Sustainable & Resilient Infrastructure

27 April 2023

Establishing a Global Knowledge Network for Sustainable & Resilient Infrastructure is an ambitious objective that requires the collaboration of top universities across the globe. The University of Queensland (UQ), Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez (UAI), and University College London (UCL) have come together to develop a research collaborative project that will address challenges facing the infrastructure sector.

The three institutions will engage across faculties to cover all aspects of the infrastructure sector, including Engineering, Social Science, Business, Design, and more. This will lead to the development of research collaborative projects that will align with current and future capabilities of the UQ Sustainable Infrastructure Research Hub to identify grant opportunities, enable academic exchange, and co-supervision of HDR students.

The objective of this collaboration is to create a global research network on sustainable and resilient infrastructure. This will facilitate collaborative events with external stakeholders, international HDR student exchange opportunities, and research collaborations between network partners. These events and research collaborations will promote research and capabilities to academic, industry, and government stakeholders in key international partners.

International HDR student exchange opportunities will provide students with experiences developing graduate capabilities on challenges of global significance. This will attract staff and HDR students from high-quality universities and provide opportunities to diversify income streams through academic and non-academic funding sources across three continents.

The outcome of this collaboration will be the sharing of knowledge, resources, educational tools, and future grant applications to solve problems of sustainability and resilience in infrastructure. This will strengthen current and future course offerings and their delivery with engagement through learnings from other institutions.
