Dr Nick Fleming joins UQ’s SIRH as an Adjunct Professor

Dr Nick Fleming joined the SIRH as an Adjunct Professor supporting the transdisciplinary and industry-led research and activities.

Dr Fleming brings a unique set of skills and experiences to guide the team at the SIRH with more than 25 years in sustainable infrastructure through academic successes, pioneering roles driving sustainability in infrastructure globally, and governance expertise including as National President and Chair of the Board of Engineers Australia.

Dr Fleming’s ability to not only bring a private and public sector perspective to our research, but also to think differently and challenge the research team has been invaluable. There are few people who understand complex problems the way Nick does, with the professional and technical expertise, transdisciplinary insights and systems approach to develop the required strategies to address these challenges.”

Dr Fleming’s vast experience in both the private and public sectors globally include as company director, strategist, facilitator, and educator covering the breadth of infrastructure intensive industries.

Prior to establishing his own business, Innergise, Dr Fleming was the Director of Business Innovation for Jacobs and global Chief Sustainability Officer for SKM. In addition, Dr Fleming was the taskforce chair for Infrastructure Partnerships Australia and a non-executive director with the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia.

Currently, he is a non-executive director of South East Water and Iota.
