6 May 2015

Australians will be reminded that the law underpins every aspect of our lives during National Law Week beginning May 11.

Emeritus Professor of Public Law from T.C. Beirne School of Law Professor Suri Ratnapala said National Law Week promoted public understanding of law and its role in society.

“National Law Week aims to remind Australians the law is with you every step you take,” he said.

“Law and society evolve together.  If you go to any society, you’ll find rules by which they conduct themselves.

“You cannot have a society unless there is some sort of criminal law as well as law that requires people to follow their contracts.”

The Queensland Government will offering courthouse tours, presentations and displays across the state.
