UQ alumnus divines a bright future for water investment

New York-based UQ alumnus Mark Sowerby discussed the globally unique opportunities of investing in water during prime time on Fox Business - broadcast throughout the US - on 4 June.

Mr Sowerby’s investment firm, Blue Sky Alternative Investment, controls $1 billion of assets which are being directed to investing in water.

“The opportunities for investing in water are very unique, and the opportunity in Australia is very different,” Mr Sowerby said in the interview.

Mr Sowerby founded Blue Sky in 2006 and is currently Managing Director of the ASX listed investment fund.

“I loved building businesses and figured that starting a private equity company would give me exposure to my passion; I would get to build my own business and other people's,” he said.

Mr Sowerby studied a Bachelor of Agricultural Business, graduating in 1993 and returned to complete a Master of Business Administration in 2003 both at UQ.
