Prestigious kingmaker program to be offered at UQ from 2017

2 Aug 2016

An elite program that has underpinned the careers of political leaders and high profile commentators is being offered for the first time at The University of Queensland next year.

From 2017, UQ will join the distinguished group of world-leading universities – such as Oxford - offering a Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics.

This degree has become well known as the foundation for future leaders with graduates including former UK Prime Ministers David Cameron (UK) and Malcolm Fraser (Australia).

Offered in Queensland for the first time, the four year Honours program will have a small, high-achieving cohort aspiring to create change through a leadership role in politics, business, the community or academia.

Students will examine current and future global challenges, drawing from an historical, political, social and economic knowledge base.

Students will have the opportunity to take part in work placements in Australia and overseas and to study for a semester at one of UQ’s international partner universities.

Graduate careers included leadership and decision-making positions in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, analysts, commentators and advisors.

The program is being jointly offered by UQ’s Faculties of Business, Economics and Law and Humanities and Social Sciences.
