BEL alumnae shortlisted for prestigious business awards

26 Oct 2016

Two BEL alumnae were recently recognised as finalists for the 2016 Telstra Business Women’s Awards.

UQ Business School alumna and CFO of Good Price Pharmacy, Rebecca He, was shortlisted for the Telstra Queensland Corporate and Private Award. Rebecca graduated from UQ with a Master of Commerce in 2003, and later returned to earn her MBA in 2015.

School of Economics alumna and owner of Mountain Bikes Direct, Jen Geale, was in the running for the Telstra Queensland Young Business Women’s Award. Jen graduated with a Bachelor of Economics in 2008.

Acting BEL Faculty Executive Dean, Professor Andrew Griffiths, said the nominations were a testament to the talent produced by the Business and Economics schools.

“It comes as no surprise that graduates from these programs have excelled in their careers,” he said.

“UQ Business School is independently ranked as one of the top business schools in Australia and in the world, with the number one MBA program in the Asia-Pacific and one of the top MBAs in the world according to The Economist.

“The School of Economics is a highly regarded teaching and research centre both nationally and internationally, with world-class academic staff, a leading Bachelor of Economics program and research that is ranked above or well-above world standard

“I would like to congratulate Rebecca and Jen on their nominations and their immense business success. I look forward to following their careers in the future.”

The 2016 Telstra Business Women’s Award winners were announced earlier this month. The full list of finalists can be found here, and the winners here.
