More than 40 students and staff from Republic Polytechnic in Singapore experienced a day in the life at The University of Queensland during a recent campus visit.

The international tour group – made up of students and their teachers from Polytechnic’s School of Hospitality – explored their options for further study at UQ’s Faculty of Business, Economics and Law (BEL).

BEL Faculty Senior Manager of International Services Brendon Lutwyche said UQ had welcomed Republic Polytechnic students to BEL programs for many years.

“Over the years, many students have completed their diploma at Republic Polytechnic and received credit towards their dream UQ degree,” Mr Lutwyche said.

“There are several study options right at their fingertips, such as our world-class, highly ranked business management, commerce, economics and tourism undergraduate programs.

“Thanks to the existing BEL-Republic Polytechnic credit arrangement, Polytechnic students can complete their UQ degree in less time, which is a huge benefit for students looking for a head start in their career.

“Polytechnic students can also take advantage of the invaluable programs and services on campus, including those offered by the BEL Student Employability Team.

“This dedicated Faculty team partners with leading employers to help BEL students increase their employability, access opportunities and manage their career, giving them an edge in the highly competitive international job market.”

Mr Lutwyche said his team was delighted to host the Republic Polytechnic group during their international study tour of Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

“It’s always a pleasure to welcome our friends from Singapore,” Mr Lutwyche said.

“I look forward to running into some of our visitors when they return to campus as UQ students!”

During their visit, Republic Polytechnic students and staff were treated to an extensive campus tour led by UQ International student ambassadors, enjoyed lunch in the picturesque UQ Alumni Court and learned about their study options from BEL Faculty staff.
