Energy and resources sector boss to deliver BEL alumni lecture

EnergyAustralia Managing Director Catherine Tanna will deliver the upcoming Faculty of Business, Economics and Law  alumni lecture on Wednesday 23 September in Melbourne.

The 2015 UQ Alumni award winner will be the guest of honour at the exclusive Melbourne event for BEL alumni, hosted by the Faculty at the Deloitte offices.

Ms Tanna graduated from UQ with a Bachelor of Laws in 1984 and has had a long career in the energy and resources industry in Australia and internationally.

As Executive Vice President of BG Group, she led the $25 billion Queensland Curtis LNG project in Gladstone, one of the largest capital infrastructure developments in Australia at the time and one of BG Group’s largest investments worldwide.

She has held senior executive roles with Shell Gas & Power and BHP Petroleum, managing material oil and gas operations and business in Australia, the United Kingdom, North America, Latin America, Asia and Russia.

Recently, Tanna chaired Queensland 20 (Q20), a peak group of Queensland business leaders responsible for maximising benefits from the 2014 G20 Leaders’ Summit in Brisbane.

Since taking up the mantle at EnergyAustralia in May 2014, Ms Tanna has made a significant positive impact on the company’s underlying profits, workplace culture and business objectives, moving towards a customer-centric focus.

In addition to her duties at EnergyAustralia, Ms Tanna is also a Member of the Board of the Reserve Bank of Australia.
